Bio
Brianna Wylie is a graduating Mechanical Engineering Ph.D. candidate with an anticipated graduation in 2025. Her work focuses on real-time quality control and intelligent error correction in additive manufacturing. She is driven to create accessible, low-cost monitoring systems that enhance reliability and minimize waste in 3D printing processes.
Research
Error Correction of FDM 3D Printing primarily using optical monitoring. Using two camera setups (top down view and side view) of USB webcams, we can compare the real time images of the print to the GCODE parameters and create an error threshold to use a correction control in case the threshold is passed. The two errors that will be focused on is layer height for one-dimensional errors, and image congruence with GCODE for a two-dimensional error. The goal of the error control is the correct print in-situ to save on printing time and material.
